If a dog eats too quickly, I always advise pet owners to think about getting a slow-feeder dog bowl. Pacing isn't the only thing to consider; it can also help avoid more serious problems like bloat. Many of our clients have come in believing that their dog was ill when, in reality, it was simply gulping food. My own dog has benefited greatly from using one at home.
